Before entering UNSW Foundation Studies students will need to have reached a certain minimum level of English language proficiency. The minimum requirements for entry are set out below.

Note: IELTS and TOEFL tests must have been taken within 12 months of the most recent application.
 

*IELTS:International English Language Testing System. Tests are conducted in Australia at a number of locations, including UNSW Institute of Languages. For overseas students contact IDP Education Australia Offices and UNSW Global or British Council Offices. Applicants must take the Academic Module and must achieve consistent results across all bands.
 

** TOEFL:Test of English as a Foreign Language. A TOEFL score is not acceptable without the Test of Written English (TWE) for paper-based and computer-based tests, or Writing for Internet-based test. UNSW Global is registered as a test site for the TOEFL iBT.
 

# A minimum IELTS academic writing score of 5.5 or equivalent is required for applications from academically specified countries.
  ## Longer or shorter English language programs are also available, depending on your English level and/or preference.
